CASE LAW [IRE] (ch, 1987, by Ahonoora out of Travesty, by Reliance).
Standing at Jai-Govind Stud Farm in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The only one of this quintet to have already had runners is this well-grown, attractive son of Ahonoora, also sire of one of Europe’s star stallions, Indian Ridge, and closer to home, of Don’t Forget Me[IRE], who has been a useful servant to the Manjri Stud during his innings there. That the male line descending from Tourbillon via Djebel has worked well in India can be seen from the doings of the likes of Babbanio* and Common Land[GB], to name a few.
Winner of nine races worth £87,715 from Sir Mark Prescott’s yard, Case Law[IRE] scored over 5f. and 6f. at 2, 3, 4 and 6 years in England. His victories included the Trafalgar House Sprint Stakes, L., and the Abernant Stakes, L., at Newmarket. He also placed second in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes, Gr.3, in Ireland, which earned him a rating of 112.
Despite his gameness and toughness, he did not attract much patronage at stud in Europe, where the first of his several homes was the Broguestown Stud in Co. Kildare. He is recorded as having just 124 foals in eight crops – in contrast Danehill had close to 1,000 foals in his first eight crops. In his final season, at the Hedgeholme Stud in England, Case Law[IRE] covered just six mares, which resulted in a mere couple of runners (foals of 2002). What’s more, the mares he served were modest in the extreme.
Case Law[IRE] has shown his worth with the likes of Jim Pender (16 wins), Miss Cicciolina (15 wins), Thump (11 wins), Law Breaker and Mammas F-C (10 wins each) and listed winner Law Library (Go And Go Round Tower Stakes).
With as many as 20 foals from his first Indian crop, Case Law [IRE] has gained a new lease of life, and looks likely to prove himself as the most reliable sire of winners under Indian conditions.
