A well-conformed, physically attractive individual, Senure [USA] a Juddmonte home-bred - was retained for racing in Prince Khaled Abdullah's colours and sent into training in England with Roger Charlton, for whom he won twice. He kept encountering soft going, which he did not much appreciate.
Senure [USA] was a transformed horse once relocated to the barn of Bobby Frankel in the U.S.A. He immediately struck on his US debut in a 9 fur. allowance at Santa Anita, and followed up with a Graded Stakes win by annexing the Fastness Handicap (Gr.3), at Hollywood Park. A model of consistency, he won 5 of his 8 U.S. starts, was placed twice, and unplaced only in the Arlington Million run in bottomless going.
He became a multiple Grade 1 winner with victories in the United Nations Handicap at Monmouth Park and the Clement L. Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship at Santa Anita, and was on target for attempts at the Breeders Cup Turf and Japan Cup when an injury intervened.
Senure [USA] possessed a great turn of foot the hallmark of a successful stallion and raced exclusively on turf. If memory serves, he is the only international multiple Gr.1 winner to commence his stud career in India in the last 30 years.
Not much needs to be said about his breed-shaping sire, Nureyev, who is currently red-hot as a sire of sires with the likes of Peintre Celebre, Stravinsky and Fasliyev spreading his genes one must not forget his grandson, Pivotal, perhaps the leading active sire in Britain today.
Senure [USA]'s first three dams are all stakes winners Diese (by Diesis) won the Prix Corrida (Gr.3), Monroe (by Sir Ivor) won the Ballyogan Stakes (Gr.3), and Best In Show (by Traffic Judge) won the Comely Stakes, not to mention the honour of being selected as Broodmare of the Year in the U.S.A. This is one of the most powerful female families in international bloodstock breeding, having produced El Gran Senor, Try My Best, Malinowski, Blush With Pride, Gielgud, Xaar, Masterclass, Domesday, Yagli and numerous others.
The first of Senure's 33 representatives has already gained a winning bracket on debut.
