BLACK CASH[USA] (b, 1995, by Deposit Ticket out of Sooni, by Buckpasser).
Standing at Nanoli Stud Farm, District Pune, Maharashtra. A multiple Graded Stakes winner in Canada and the USA, Black Cash [USA] was acquired by noted owner, Frank Stronach, as a weanling for $30,000, and turned over to schooler Joseph Orseno, who trained the youngster to a pair of wins at 2, which included the Grey Breeders' Cup Stakes (Gr.3), at Woodbine in Canada.
The following year went by without reward, although a fifth-placed effort in the classic Preakness Stakes (Gr.1), was noteworthy. Black Cash [USA] resumed his winning ways at 4, when his finest hour came in the Hall of Fame Breeders' Cup Handicap (Gr.3), at Thistledown in Ohio. At 5, his best effort again came in Canada, where he annexed the Eclipse Handicap (Gr.2), before being retired as the winner of 6 races and $ 486,962, all on dirt.
The handsome Deposit Ticket (grandson of Northern Dancer), himself a winner of 5 races worth $444,361, including the Hopeful Stakes (Gr.1) at 2, has sired the winners of over $11 million. Bred by Pegasus Stud Farm, Black Cash was foaled in Kentucky and was the sixteenth (!) and penultimate foal of the extraordinary matron, Sooni (by Buckpasser), who was an own-sister to Toll Booth (herself pretty exceptional as the dam of no less than seven black-type winners, including US Champion Sprinter Plugged Nickle and Grade 1 winner Christiecat, and grandam of Grade 1 winner Riskaverse and stakes winner Libor[USA], who proved to be a useful sire in India). This is the family also of A.P. Indy and Summer Squall.
Black Cash [USA] has been quickly off the mark with 2 of his 3 runners victorious to date, from a crop of 34 live foals.
